The End of the Counterculture Era
After its peak in 1969, the counterculture in America started to fade. By the mid 70's, many of the traits associated with counterculture, specifically drug use and crimes, became part of the main stream culture. While it sound like the counterculture took over and became the mainstream culture, that is simply false. The protesters turned into authors, lawyers, and politicians as they got older. The counterculture simply faded out before the end of the 1970's.
